Cordless Hand Planers

Cordless hand planers are far more portable than any other type of planer, obviously due to the lack of a cord. This does mean you'll have to change or charge batteries, so you're not completely free to roam away from an outlet (for too long, anyway), but you can easily take these planers anywhere you need them.

For around-the-house tasks, cordless hand planers are a favorite of many do-it-yourselfers. They'll generally give you less power than an AC bench-top planer (and much less power than a stationary planer), but if portability is your main requirement, consider a cordless hand planer.
